Not only has Jesus healed a crippled man on the Sabbath in Jerusalem, but he also claimed this healing to be an expression of God’s activity, saying, ‘My Father is working still, and I am working’. The Jewish authorities see Jesus not only as a Sabbath-breaker, but also as a man who makes himself equal with God, calling God his Father. Because of this, they seek to kill him. Jesus talks about his relationship with God and that everything he does is initiated by God. God starts the action and Jesus follows.
